Composite Indicators to Measure Quality of Working Life in Europe: A Systematic Review

Abstract In the last two decades, Quality of Working Life (QWL) has become a core element European social model and Employment Strategy. “More better jobs” is strategic goal promoted within Europe for emphasising attention in QWL. However, there large debate literature on definition QWL, its dimensions, consequently methods to use measurement. To best our knowledge, systematic reviews currently available QWL measurement organisations investigate only particular industry and/or working population. Moreover, they do not focus specifically composite indicators, although appear promising facilitating understanding comparisons supporting decision-makers policy makers. overcome these gaps, we conducted review identify indicators measuring organisations. The returned 19 studies that are analysed based set factors related locutions, index name, geographical area, or population, level analysis, type data, inputs, outputs, test validation. results highlight significant heterogeneity among confirming lack an agreed upon indicator Europe. Such concerns also dimensions. A critical comparison different provided, along with unifying proposal macro-dimensions. Several gaps pointed out suggesting directions future research.
